Tuleh rocks!

I found this really great brand that has a ton of frum clothing. Unfortunately it is also incredibly expensive, but I thought you might want a peek at it. Sometimes I get great ideas on new colors and new ways to wear clothing by looking at garments I cant afford.

Spring Trend: Earthy

Earthy. What the heck does that mean? From what I could tell from the spread in InStyle it basically is a renaming of the 'ethnic' or 'tribal' trend of the last few years. Lots of pattern in shades of khaki, olive, yellow, green, and natural materials such as wood, cork, raffia, and bone. I happen to love this look because it is perfect for all of my full length sun dresses and colorful hair wraps. I like to call it 'gypsy chic' but 'earthy' is fine too. Whateves. Here is a version of the outfit I am wearing today that embodies this look:

I love this dress It is comfortable and chic all at the same time.

I collect printed long sleeve tops all year long. I like this one because it has all my favorite shades of blue, green and yellow.

I wanted to show you two different versions of the type of shoe I would wear with this dress. The first one is sort of a fantasy shoe- I don't have the time or patience to clonk around in those shoes, but if I DID have the time, I would rock these shoes. The second pair of shoes
are similar to the shoes I am wearing. I like the woven detail and I am sure the flats would be much more comfortable then the platforms.
All that is left is the accessories:

Spring Trends: Ruffles

One of the big trends of the season is ruffles. As it turns out, I don't love ruffles. I find them distracting. Plus, I have a 'small frame' and I am short so I feel like a wedding cake when I wear them. However, I like ruffles when OTHER people wear them. So here is a sprinkling of ruffled tops at some really good prices.

You can find them here, here, here, and here.

Spring Trends: Khaki

The next trend is khaki. Khaki was seen all over the runway, but in my opinion, khaki has been a staple FOREVER! I have been wearing khaki in various shades for years now, and my favorite color combo was khaki and light blue. I still think that is a classic look, and it will never go out of style, but I am more interested in the khaki and orange combination I have been seeing. So check this outfit out:
Start with a fun peasant blouse with a touch of orange. You can always wear a white shirt to lengthen the sleeves underneath this one.

Then add a khaki skirt

I like the leaner shape of this skirt contrasted with the fullness of the shirt.

If you are feeling a little chilly, or you don't want to add an undershirt to your outfit, wear this
This jacket is a must have for the spring. It is so versatile because it can add some fashion to any basic ensemble.

The only other thing you need to complete the jacket is a great pair of shoes

a casual bag

and some hoop earrings
and you are good to go! This would be a perfect outfit to do errands or go shopping with the girls. So if you have some khaki garments in your wardrobe, think about combining them with some orange for a fresh spring look.

Spring Trends: Metallic

I got my new InStyle magazine today and they have a section on the new spring trends. I thought it would be fun to translate the trends into some tznius outfits. The first look we are exploring is metallics.

I would start with this shirt
It has an amazing irrodecent shimmer that would brighten any skin tone. You can find the shirt here

Then I would add a tailored denim skirt
I like this one because of the pleat detail. It makes the skirt feel special. You can find it here

Then I would add some fun red accessories:

red rose earrings

fun belt

quirky bag

simple flats

Put them all together and you have one rockin' frum outfit. How cool is that? Plus, the denim skirt can be worn with pretty much anything. The shirt is also a basic because that color looks great with any other accent color. You can try yellow, orange or even something simple like navy blue. So remember metallics as a spring trend when you are out shopping for spring clothing.

Frum on the Runway!

Tilda Swinton is a British actress with a very avant-garde fashion perspective. She pushes the fashion envelope as far as it will go, often with some crazy consequences. And I LOVE her for it. I have noticed that many of her outfits are frum, which I think is very interesting. For example she wore this to the Academy Awards this year:
I know it is a crazy outfit for the red carpet, but I think it is such a fresh and modern look. I am so tired of seeing the same pretty dress go down the runway- this was a refreshing look for my eyes. Plus, I predict a new trend of separates on the red carpet.

The next look is Galliano.

If I had the money I would rock this outfit. I think the proportions of the jacket with the skirt are amazing and if you scroll down to my last post about the runways, you will see a similar look- a long skirt with trapeze jacket. My friend Chana Malka would look AMAZING in this. She should totally take a second mortgage out on her home and get this for her brother's wedding.

On a more casual note, I love this next dress: It doesn't quite come up far enough on the chest, or long enough on the sleeves, but you get the idea. To take this to 'real life' one could purchase a long grey sundress and wear a tight shirt under it with a large belt just under the boobs. I think it could look super cool on Shabbat, or out to a nice dinner.

The last look is a little too masculine for my taste, but it could easily be recreated if you like this look:
All you have to do is find a blazer and throw it over a long dress. Actually, I think this could be a cute look over a shorter dress/skirt as well. For a more casual look you could just roll up the sleeves a la Miami Vice. It would give the outfit a youthful 1980's look, which I couldn't get away with, but if you are around 18-22 I say go for it.

Jewelry Obsessed

I need some new earrings. Bad. So I picked a few from old reliable Anthropologie. Here are my choices:

I want them alllllll! They look really good with head scarves and long, flowy dresses which is exactly the look I am going for this Summer. Very beachy 1960's with a touch of an ethnic vibe.

By the way, I just got this ring and wore it yesterday. Only 65 bucks! You can get it at jcrew.com.

How good would this ring look with the second pair of earrings?

Frum on the Runway!

So it has been forever and a day since I last posted and you guys have been giving me grief. So I think I will try to start up again. So to begin I wanted to entice you with a frum outfit by none other then VICTORIA BECKHAM! How amazing is this: So chic. And probably about a zillion dollars. But I think it is pretty cool to see some long, lanky skirts with a more casual jacket. My ass is way too big to pull off this look, but I am sure some of you out there are skinny enough for it.
